Apple has released iOS 26 and macOS Tahoe, but it will still update the operating systems they replace. In fact, Apple on Monday released iOS 18.7, macOS Sequoia 15.7, and macOS Sonoma 14.8.

To install the updates, you need an internet connection, and your device needs to restart. Here are the instructions:
iPhone/iPad: Go to Settings > General > Software Update. After the device checks online, tap Update Now or Update Tonight.
Mac: Under the Apple menu, go to System Settings > General > Software Update. After the Mac checks online, click Update Now or Update Tonight.
Apple continues to release security updates after the next version of the operating system has been released. It will also release updates for any major bugs, but new features are not available. Apple will usually stop supporting its older OSes after 5 to 7 years.
